About the Vineyard
History
The Omodei Family chose the name 'Olde Eastbrook' in recognition of the times of 'Olde'. The pioneers and settlers, who faced hardship with humour and prevailed to raise families and build a community in Eastbrook.
Olde Eastbrook enjoys a unique position in Pemberton, bounded by the pristine Diamond State Forest bursting with Karri, Marri, Jarrah, Blackbutt and Banksia trees. The immaculate vineyard, with its striking scenery, has become a feature of the magnificent Pemberton Wine Region.
The Gazebo
The Gazebo featured on the wine label, was built in 2001/2002 by the Omodei Family. In 2002 the Gazebo was the setting for the wedding of Justin and Jodie Omodei, and has now been the scene of many others. The Gazebo can be booked to hold weddings or other events. If you require any further information on the Gazebo please contact us.
The Omodei family find the gazebo to be the perfect place to relax on a lazy summer's evening enjoying a glass of Chardonnay, some fresh marron and trout!
Our Fruit
We have 23 hectares of vineyard and produce Merlot, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
Merlot - A fantastic variety for the Pemberton region. It has loose bunches, small tough berries and a healthy, big leaved canopy with a propensity to crop low. The big leaves around the bunch zone protect them from the sting of the hot summer sun then in early autumn we remove them as ripening begins. This area of vineyard is deep/dry loam gravel which leans towards the east and as the sun rises, the reflection off the water warms the site.
Shiraz - Is situated right next to the dam in a patch that receives 'a thousand lights' as the morning sun beams off the water. Nice and warm on gravel that is 10 feet deep, running into granite.
Sauvignon Blanc - The mature vines are situated on the far eastern side of the farm, commonly referred to as 'up the back!' The new block is situated opposite the Eastbrook Rd turn off. A vigorous variety that requires leaf plucking to ventilate the canopy and produce clean fruit.
Chardonnay - This area of vineyard is a cool, south sloping site with deep gravel over rich red clay and iron stone. A magnificent block comprised of the Dijon clones 76, 95, 96 and 277, it has a propensity for small bunches causing low to moderate yields and intense flavours.
